Terms of Use

Last updated: January 2026

The legal version: By using this site, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the site.

The honest version: These are here to protect both of us. I'm not trying to screw you, and I'm asking you not to screw me. Pretty simple.

Content Ownership

Everything on this site—articles, images, site design—belongs to Soren Ross unless otherwise noted.

You can:

  • Read it (obviously)
  • Share links on social media
  • Quote short excerpts with attribution
  • Reference ideas in your own work (with credit)

You can't:

  • Republish entire articles without permission
  • Scrape the site for AI training without permission
  • Claim my work as yours
  • Use my writing in commercial products without permission

If you want to republish something, email hello@sorenross.com. I'm usually fine with it if you ask first and provide attribution.

What This Site Is Not

This site is not:

  • Medical advice
  • Therapy
  • Legal counsel
  • Financial guidance
  • A substitute for professional help

This site is:

  • One person's experience
  • Ideas to consider
  • Perspectives to test
  • Starting points for your own thinking

If you're struggling with mental health, trauma, or serious life issues, please talk to a qualified professional. I'm just a guy who writes about his experience. I'm not qualified to help you with yours beyond sharing what worked for me.

Meditation Safety Note

I write about meditation and contemplative practices. These are generally safe, but not always:

If you have:

  • Active psychosis
  • Severe trauma
  • Dissociative disorders
  • Recent mental health crisis

Then:

  • Talk to a mental health professional before starting intensive meditation
  • Start slowly with qualified guidance
  • Know that meditation can sometimes intensify difficult emotions

Meditation isn't universally beneficial for everyone at every time. Use your judgment. If something feels wrong, stop and seek guidance.

I occasionally link to other sites, books, or resources. I don't control those sites. I'm not responsible for their content, privacy practices, or whether they're still around when you click the link.

If I ever add affiliate links (like Amazon), I'll disclose it clearly. Currently, there are none.

Newsletter

If you subscribe:

  • I'll send you one email per week (usually Tuesdays)
  • I won't spam you
  • I won't sell your email
  • You can unsubscribe anytime (link in every email)

I might occasionally send extra emails for site updates or important announcements, but rarely.

Comments and Feedback

Currently, there are no comments on the site. If I add them later:

  • Be respectful
  • No harassment, hate speech, or spam
  • I reserve the right to delete comments or ban users

If you have feedback, email me instead: hello@sorenross.com

Changes to These Terms

I can update these terms anytime. If I make major changes, I'll update the date at the top and notify newsletter subscribers.

Continuing to use the site after changes means you accept the new terms.

Limitation of Liability

The legal version: I provide this content "as is" without warranties. I'm not liable for any damages from using or not using this content.

The honest version: I try to write accurately and thoughtfully, but I'm human. I make mistakes. Don't bet your life on anything I write. Do your own research. Make your own decisions. Take what's useful, leave what isn't.

Governing Law

This site is published from the United States. These terms are governed by U.S. law. If you're accessing from another country, your local laws also apply where relevant (especially privacy laws like GDPR).

Termination

I can shut down the site anytime for any reason. You can stop using it anytime for any reason.

If you violate these terms (like stealing content), I can ban you from the site. I probably won't unless you're really obnoxious about it.

The short version: Don't steal my work. Don't be an asshole. Use your own judgment. If you need real help, get real help. We're good.
